Remember, it's Friday, March 31st here, but it's already April Fool's Day in Japan, so don't go completely ballistic yet. It seems a WSG member from Japan has received his 2407 (pictured, still boxed, in the photos above). While I'm sure we're all ecstatic for the guy, many of us are also GOING ABSOLUTELY NUCKING FUTS that we don't even have a stateside release date yet.

In any case, look forward to his impending review over on the WSG forum. Since we have a real, live sighting now, it would debunk the earlier rumors that the 2407 has been delayed because Dell switched the panel from S-PVA to an S-IPS at the last minute. For any number of reasons, it seemed highly improbable that this was the case, which is why I never posted the rumor here. Now it's proven to be false and there's evidence.

Oh, by the way, don't bother contacting said 2407 owner and inquiring about his putting it on ebay, I beat you to it...

Since I have nary a shiny, new detail on the 2407 (quite a shocker, I know), let's go back and look at the 2405. A bit of warning, however, you either need to know something about Babelfish (link) that I don't, or be able to read Japanese.

Dell 2405 Used as HDTV

Apparently, there are pictures of the 2405 being used as an HDTV. It's supposedly pretty good as a high-def display.

I'm a cornucopia of knowledge, am I not? Well, if any of you speak fluent babelfish and/or Japanese, let me know all the juicy details, will ya?

Initiative But No Luck

It seems someone from Japan ordered a 2407, but was told that all 2407 shipments will be delayed. No distributor sites have received them from the factory yet.

So close yet so far.

Top 10 things you can do while waiting for the 2407 to be released:

10. Find ways to blame President Bush for the lack of information.

9. Find ways to blame Bill Gates for same.

8. Get a life.

7. Start rumors about the 2707 release date.

6. Use IM and/or myspace to make a friend in Japan, get him/her to buy one and ship it to you.

5. Then get him/her to buy and ship one to me.

4. Figure out concrete ways to move the country to mostly ethanol based cars and roll out the infrastructure; at this rate, you'll have plenty of time to think.

3. Sit in front of your 2405, make your fingers into the shape of a gun, do your best Clint Eastwood impersonation, and say "your days are numbered PUNK!"

2. Dress like a pimp (in which you must wear fur and platform shoes), and tell your current LCD it's time to "sell that ass on ebay" because there will be a new girl in town.

1. Email Dell and tell them to release this bad boy YESTERDAY, because you have it on excellent authority that SED monitors will be released in May after a super-secret marketing and technology summit was convened in Japan, and that they'll be priced at 800 bucks for a 32'' SED panel.
